The Traffic Director for London, in accordance with a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:-“
1. This Order may be cited as The A205 Trunk Road (Southwark) Red Route (Prohibited Turns) Traffic Order 1999, and shall come into force on 5th February 1999.
2. In this Order-“
(a)causing includes permitting;
(b)"the trunk road" means the A205 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Southwark;
(c)"central reserve" means that part of the trunk road which separates one part of the carriageway from another part for the safety and guidance of vehicular traffic using that road.
3.-(1) Subject to the provisions of articles 4 and 5 below, no person shall cause any vehicle travelling in a northwesterly direction to enter or proceed through the gap in the central reserve of the trunk road opposite its junction with Underhill Road.
(2) Subject to the provisions of article 5 below, no person shall cause any vehicle travelling in a northwesterly direction to enter or proceed through the gap in the central reserve of the trunk road opposite its junction with Wood Vale.
(3) Subject to the provisions of article 5 below, no person shall cause any vehicle travelling in a northwesterly direction to enter or proceed through any gap in the central reserve of the trunk road between its junction with Wood Vale and 15 metres north of its junction with Underhill Road.
4.-(1) The controls specified in article 3(1) do not apply in respect of a person causing a local bus which is being used to provide a local service to turn right from the trunk road into Underhill Road.
(2) In this article "local bus" and "local service" have the meanings given to those expressions in regulation 4 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994(3).
5. Nothing in this Order shall apply-“
(a)to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable or a traffic warden in uniform; or
(b)to a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.
6. The A205 Trunk Road (Southwark) Red Route (Prohibited Turns) Experimental Order 1998(4) is hereby revoked.
