In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st June 1999.
2. The following are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994-“
(a)Bexley London Borough Council;
(b)The London Diocesan Board for Schools, a charitable company limited by guarantee having the registered charity number 313000; and
(c)United Synagogue, a charitable unincorporated association having the registered charity number 242552.

This Order designates Bexley London Borough Council, The London Diocesan Board for Schools (a charitable company limited by guarantee with the registered charity number 313000), and United Synagogue (a charitable unincorporated association with the registered charity number 242552) as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.
As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the governing body of each institution for the certain purposes. These are the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
