The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 18 and 24(2) of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976(1), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Amusements with Prizes (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 28th May 1999.
2. It is hereby directed that paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of section 16(3) of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976 (conditions on which the provision of amusements is permitted at certain commercial entertainments) shall have effect as if-“
(a)for the sum specified in paragraph (a) there were substituted the sum of 50p(2);
(b)for the sum specified in paragraph (b) there were substituted the sum of £60(3); and
(c)for the sum specified in paragraph (c) there were substituted the sum of £15(4).
3. The instruments set out in the Schedule to this Order (which are either superseded by this Order or are spent) are hereby revoked.

This Order (which extends to England and Wales and Scotland) increases the monetary limits specified in section 16(3) of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976 (c. 32) and revokes previous Orders which are superseded or spent.
Paragraph (a) currently has effect as if 30p were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of S.I. 1984/245 as respects England and Wales, and S.I. 1984/465 as respects Scotland.
Paragraph (b) currently has effect as if £50 were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of S.I. 1997/2080.
