The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 302(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 10th May 1999.
2.-(1) The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996(2) shall be amended as follows.
(2) In Part I of the Schedule, in paragraph 2(2)(a):
(i)for "£23.66" there shall be substituted "£24.40"; and
(ii)for "£26.75" there shall be substituted "£27.60".

These Regulations further amend the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996. They make increases in the hourly rates charged for services in relation to 'Radio Rules' (i.e. the statutory instruments relating to radio installations and navigational equipment on merchant ships and fishing vessels).
