The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27(3) of the Courts Act 1971(1), having consulted the senior judges, hereby makes the following Order-“
1. This Order may be cited as the Contracting Out of Functions (Court Staff) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 26th April 1999.
2. The Lord Chancellor may enter into a contract for the provision, for the purposes mentioned in section 27(1) of the Courts Act 1971, of officers and staff to provide information technology related services in the county courts.
3. The Contracting out of Functions (Court Staff) Order 1996(2)and the Contracting Out of Functions (Court Staff) (Amendment) Order 1996(3)are hereby revoked.

This Order enables the Lord Chancellor to enter into a contract for the provision of staff to provide information technology related services in the county courts. It revokes the Contracting Out of Functions (Court Staff) Order 1996 (as amended) which detailed the functions that could be carried out by reference to certain provisions of the County Court Rules 1981 (S.I. 1981/1687). The County Court Rules are replaced by the Civil Procedure Rules 1998 (S.I. 1998/3132).
