The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12A(1) of, and paragraphs 1 and 3(1)(b) of Schedule 7A to, the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Law Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.
(2) In this Order "the principal Order" means the Law Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993(2).
2. For article 3(2)(a) of the principal Order there shall be substituted the following:-“
"(a)to own and manage under section 12A(1)(a) of the Act the hospital establishments or facilities known as Law Hospital, Carluke, Strathclyde Hospital Out-Patient Department, Motherwell and Bellshill Maternity Hospital, Bellshill and establishments associated with those hospitals, including management of the facilities provided at and from those establishments, and also including the management of any teaching and research facilities associated with these establishments and the support services related thereto;".

This Order substitutes a new article 3(2)(a) in the Law Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 to permit the trust to own and manage Bellshill Maternity Hospital, Belshill.
1978 c. 29; section 12A(1) was inserted by the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 (c. 19) ("the 1990 Act"), section 31; Schedule 7A was inserted by the 1990 Act, Schedule 6; paragraph 1 of Schedule 7A is cited for the definition of "an order".
