In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 484 and 569(4) of the Education Act 1996(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations;
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 16th February 1998.
2. The Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) Regulations 1997(2) shall be amended as follows.
3. In regulation 5(2) the following entries shall be inserted at the end of the table in the left hand and right hand columns respectively-
"23 | 100". |
4. In regulation 11(1) for "or 18" there shall be substituted ", 18 or 23".
5. In the Schedule after paragraph 22 there shall be inserted the following paragraph-
"23. Further support for schools by the provision of books.".

These regulations further amend the Education (Grants for Education Support and Training) (England) Regulations 1997. They add a new purpose (the provision of books) for which grant is payable at a rate of 100 per cent.
