The Traffic Director for London, in accordance with a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the A23 Trunk Road (Croydon) Red Route (Prohibited Turns) Traffic Order 1998, and shall come into force on 26th January 1998.
2. In this Order
Cause includes permit;
"Purley Way" means that length of the A23 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Croydon known as Purley Way;
"Stafford Road" means that length of the A232 in the London Borough of Croydon known as Stafford Road.
3. Subject to the provisions of article 4 below, no person shall cause a vehicle to turn right on entering Purley Way from Stafford Road.
4. Nothing in this Order shall apply-
(a)to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden; or
(b)to a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.
5. The A23 Trunk Road (Croydon) Red Route (Prescribed Route No. 2) Experimental Traffic Order 1996(3) is hereby revoked.
