The Secretary of State for Social Security, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 2 of Schedule 8 to the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Scheme:
1. This Scheme may be cited as the Workmen's Compensation (Supplementation) (Amendment) (No. 2) Scheme 1997 and shall come into force on 7th April 1997.
2. For Article 18 of the Workmen's Compensation (Supplementation) Scheme 1982(2) (sums not payable when delay in claiming) there shall be substituted the following Article-
"18. An allowance shall not be payable to any person in respect of any period more than three months before the claim for the allowance is made.".

This Scheme amends the Workmen's Compensation (Supplementation) Scheme 1982 (S.I. 1982/1489) by limiting to three months the period of backdating for an allowance.
This Scheme does not impose any costs on business.
