The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 19(3) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1996(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, having consulted with the Scottish Examination Board, the Scottish Vocational Education Council and the Scottish Qualifications Authority in accordance with the provisions of that sub-section, and being satisfied that nothing further remains to be done by the said Board or the said Council, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Scottish Examination Board and Scottish Vocational Education Council (Dissolution) (Scotland) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 28th November 1997.
2. The Scottish Examination Board and the Scottish Vocational Education Council shall be dissolved on 28th November 1997.

This Order provides for the Scottish Examination Board (SEB) and the Scottish Vocational Education Council (SCOTVEC) to be dissolved on 28th November 1997.
The property, rights, liabilities and obligations of SEB and SCOTVEC were transferred to the Scottish Qualifications Authority on 1st April 1997 by virtue of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (Transfer Date) (Scotland) Order 1997 (S.I. 1997/364). Staff employed by SEB and SCOTVEC were also transferred on that day.
