Regulation 2
(This note is not part of the Order)
Paragraph 12 of Schedule 2B to the Gas Act 1986 provides that a person proposing to connect a meter with a service pipe through which gas is conveyed to any premises by a public gas transporter, or to disconnect a meter from such a pipe, must give 48 hours' notice of the connection or disconnection to the gas supplier supplying gas to the premises, or to the transporter in question. The Regulations prescribe the form of the notice and the information which it is to contain. This includes details of the meter itself and of the person requesting the connection or disconnection.
See the definition of "prescribed".
1986 c. 44. Schedule 2B was inserted by section 9(2) of the Gas Act 1995 (c. 45).
By paragraph 12(1) of Schedule 2B to the Gas Act 1986, the notice must be received by the appropriate public gas transporter or gas supplier (see note (b) below) at least 48 hours before the proposed connection or disconnection. However, by paragraph 12(3), any information required to be included in the notice, other than details of the time and place of the proposed connection or disconnection, may be given to that person within 48 hours after the connection or disconnection in so far as it is not reasonably practicable for the notice to contain that information.
