Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made regulations entitled "The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1995" set out in the Schedule to this Order:
And whereas by section 25(1) of the said Act such regulations shall not have effect unless approved by Order of the Privy Council:
And whereas by section 25(2) of the said Act any Order under the said section 25(1) may be revoked by a subsequent Order of the Privy Council:
Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said regulations into consideration, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said sections 25(1) and (2), do hereby order as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1996.
2. The said regulations are hereby approved.
3. The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1992(2), The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1993(3), The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1994(4) and The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1995(5) are hereby revoked.

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1995.
2. Regulation 16 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967(6) (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Regulations") shall be amended by the deletion of the second sentence and the substitution of the following therefor-
"This fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration and shall be £148.00 for names entered on the Register before 31st March 1996 and £161.00 for names entered on the Register on 31st March 1996 and thereafter.".
3. Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in paragraphs (a) (b) (c) (d) and (e) of the amounts "£131.00", "£38.00", "£10.00", "£25.00" and "£12.00" and the substitution therefor of the amounts "£143.00", "£50.00", "£15.00", "£27.00" and "£13.00" respectively.
4. Regulation 22 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion of the amounts "£17.00" and "£9.00" and the substitution therefor of the amounts "£18.00" and "£10.00" respectively.
5. Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in the first and third sentences of paragraph (b) of the amount "£148.00" and the substitution therefor in each case of the amount "£161.00".
6. Regulations 3 and 4 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1992(7) and Regulations 2, 3 and 4 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1995(8) are hereby revoked.

The Regulations approved by this Order further amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967 by increasing, with effect from 31st March 1996, the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the Registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The existing fees, which came into effect on 31st March 1995, are being increased by an average of about 9 per cent.
