Whereas under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 15th December 1995, called upon Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and other States concerned to apply certain measures to give effect to a decision of that Council in relation to Bosnia and Herzegovina:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Bosnia and Herzegovina (High Representative) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 18th March 1996.
(2) This Order shall extend to the United Kingdom.
2. In this Order "High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina" means the High Representative referred to in Annex 10 to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, signed at Paris on 14th December 1995(2).
3. The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina shall have the legal capacities of a body corporate.

This Order, made under the United Nations Act 1946, confers the legal capacities of a body corporate upon the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina established pursuant to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Cm. 3154), as required by Security Council resolution 1031 (1995) of 15th December 1995.
