Whereas in pursuance of section 19(3) of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made regulations entitled "The Veterinary Surgeons (Practice by Students) (Amendment) Regulations 1993" set out in the Schedule to this Order:
And whereas by section 25(1) of the said Act such regulations shall not have effect unless approved by Order of the Privy Council:
And whereas by section 25(2) of the said Act any order under the said section 25(1) may be revoked by a subsequent order of the Privy Council:
Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said regulations into consideration, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said sections 25(1) and (2), do hereby order as follows:
1. The said regulations are hereby approved.
2. The Veterinary Surgeons (Practice by Students) Regulations Order of Council 1967(2) is hereby revoked.
3. This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons (Practice by Students) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1995, and shall come into force forthwith.

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 19(3) of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons (Practice by Students) (Amendment) Regulations 1993.
2. The Veterinary Surgeons (Practice by Students) Regulations 1981(3) shall be amended as follows:-
(1) For regulation 3 there shall be substituted:-
"3. The classes of students of veterinary surgery prescribed for the purpose of these regulations shall comprise:-
(a)students who have attained the age of 18 years, are attending full-time courses at a university or a veterinary school in the United Kingdom or elsewhere, leading to a veterinary qualification, and have entered upon that part of the curriculum which deals with clinical studies; and
(b)students holding a veterinary qualification granted outside the United Kingdom and recognised for the purpose of these regulations by the Royal College who are attending a full-time course at a university or veterinary school or at a veterinary practice in the United Kingdom for the purpose of entering for the MRCVS examination.".
(2) In regulation 4 for the word "class" there shall be substituted the word "classes".

The Regulations approved by this Order exempt a further class of students (those holding recognised overseas qualifications) from the effects of section 19(1) of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.
