The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the A3 Trunk Road (Beverley Way, Merton) (Prohibition of Left Turn) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 28th August 1995.
2. In this Order-
"pedal cycle" means a pedal cycle not capable of being propelled by mechanical power; and
"the trunk road" means that length of the A3 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Merton known as Beverley Way.
3. Save as provided in articles 4 and 5 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to make a left turn from the trunk road at its junction with Huntley Way during the period between 0700 hours and 0930 hours on Monday to Friday inclusive in any week.
4. Nothing in article 3 above shall apply-
(a)if the vehicle is a pedal cycle;
(b)if the vehicle is being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; or
(c)to anything done at the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
