In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 3(c) of the Official Secrets Act 1911(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Official Secrets (Prohibited Places) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1994.
2. The Official Secrets (Prohibited Places) Order 1975(2)and the Official Secrets (Prohibited Places) (Amendment) Order 1993(3)are hereby revoked.
3. Each of the places specified-
(a)in Part I of the Schedule to this Order, being a site to which a permit applies within the meaning of paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Nuclear Installations Act 1965(4); or
(b)in Part II of the Schedule to this Order, being a site belonging to or used for the purposes of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority,
is, on the ground that information with respect thereto, or damage thereto, would be useful to an enemy, hereby declared to be a prohibited place for the purposes of section 3 of the Official Secrets Act 1911.

Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act 1911, as amended, defines the expression "prohibited place" for the purposes of that Act, and paragraph (c) of that section enables certain places not otherwise within the definition to be declared prohibited places by Order.
Accordingly, this Order declares the places specified in the Schedule to be prohibited places for the purposes of the 1911 Act. The Order also revokes the Official Secrets (Prohibited Places) Order 1975 and the Official Secrets (Prohibited Places) (Amendment) Order 1993, which it replaces.
1911 c. 28; section 3(c) was amended by Schedule 1 to the Official Secrets Act 1920 (c. 75), extended bysection 6(3) of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1954 (c. 32) and by paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 1 to the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 (c. 57) as that sub-paragraph has effect by virtue of the Nuclear Installations (Applications of Security Provisions) Order 1971 (S.I. 1971/569) and the Nuclear Installations (Application of Security Provisions) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/687).
