This Order further modifies section 7(1)(b) of the National Health Service Act 1977. Section 7(1) specifies the composition of the Medical Practices Committee. The Committee exercises functions under Part II of that Act in connection with the distribution of registered medical practitioners providing general medical services pursuant to that Part. This Order removes the requirement that the chairman of the Committee be a registered medical practitioner.
1977 c. 49. Subsection (1A) was inserted into section 7 by section 22(3) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 (c. 19).
Paragraph (b) was modified by the National Health Service Act 1977 (Composition of Medical Practices Committee) Modification Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/887).
