In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26(3A) of the Firearms Act 1968(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Firearms (Period of Certificate) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st January 1995.
2. Section 26(3) of the Firearms Act 1968 (period for which a firearm or shot gun certificate is to continue in force) shall have effect as if the references to three years were references to five years.

This Order provides that the period for which a firearm or shot gun certificate is to continue in force under section 26(3) of the Firearms Act 1968 (unless previously revoked or cancelled) is to be five years instead of three years. By virtue of section 26(3B) of the 1968 Act, the Order applies only to certificates granted or renewed after 1st January 1995.
