Whereas, pursuant to section 18(1) of the Agriculture Act 1986(1) the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has by order designated an area in the Pennine Dales as an environmentally sensitive area;
Now, therefore, the said Minister in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 18(1) and (4) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:-“
1. This Order may be cited as the Environmentally Sensitive Areas (Pennine Dales) Designation (Amendment) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 27th March 1993.
2. The Environmentally Sensitive Areas (Pennine Dales) Designation Order 1992(2) shall be further amended in accordance with article 3 below.
3. In article 2(1) (interpretation), for the definition of "managed woodland" there shall be substituted the following definition:
""managed woodland" means a minimum area of at least one hectare of woodland for which within two years of the start of an agreement the farmer obtains approval for a grant either in connection with the management of land under section 1 of the Forestry Act 1979(3) or in relation to the conservation and enhancement of a National Park under section 39 or 44 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981(4);".

This Order amends the Environmentally Sensitive Areas (Pennine Dales) Designation Order 1992, which designated an area in the Pennine Dales as an environmentally sensitive area, by substituting a new definition of "managed woodland" so that the definition covers woodland for which grant has been obtained under either the Forestry Act 1967 or under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (article 3).
