1. The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Cambridgeshire that the special roads referred to in article 1 of the A1(M) Motorway (Alconbury to Fletton Parkway Section) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1993(3) are open for use as special roads.
2. In this Order-“
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "classified road" | as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads; | |
(ii)"the deposited plan" | means the plan numbered HA10/2E/340 marked "The A1 Trunk Road (Alconbury to Fletton Parkway Improvement) (Detrunking) Order 1993" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; | |
(iii)"the trunk road" | means the A1 Trunk Road. |
3. This Order shall come into force on 14th December 1993 and may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Alconbury to Fletton Parkway Improvement) (Detrunking) Order 1993.

The northbound carriageway from a point 70 metres north of the centre of the existing Norman Cross roundabout to a point 120 metres north of that roundabout, a distance of 50 metres.
Lengths of the southbound carriageway, as follows-“
1. from a point 250 metres south of its junction with the B1090 to a point 660 metres south of the Wheatsheaf Flyover, a distance of 4.42 kilometres;
2. from a point 920 metres north of its junction with the B660 to a point 1065 metres north of St Andrews Bridge a distance of 2.99 kilometres;
3. from a point 20 metres south of the centre of the existing Norman Cross roundabout to a point 300 metres south of that roundabout, a distance of 280 metres;
4. from a point 290 metres south of a point opposite the junction of the trunk road with the C92 to a point 100 metres north of the centre of the existing Norman Cross roundabout, a distance of 2.31 kilometres.
