1. This Order shall come into force on 26th February 1993 and may be cited as the A417 Trunk Road (Brockworth Bypass and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 1993.
2. The lengths of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road. The length given the reference letter "A" shall be classified as a classified road and the length given the reference letter "B" shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Gloucestershire that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.
6. In this Order:
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(ii)"the deposited plan" means the plan numbered HA10/2/SWN81 marked "The A417 Trunk Road (Brockworth Bypass and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 1993" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
(iii)"new trunk roads" has the same meaning as in "The A417 Trunk Roads (Brockworth Bypass and Slip Roads) Order 1993";
(iv)"principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to high-ways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State.

The lengths of Trunk Road ceasing to be trunk road are those lengths of the A417 Trunk Road in the City of Gloucester and the Borough of Tewkesbury in the County of Gloucestershire as follows:-
1. That length of the Trunk Road given the reference letter "A" on the deposited plan about 3.39 kilometres in length starting at a point 70 metres south east of Zoons Court Bridge in a south easterly direction and ending at the Cross Hands Roundabout junction with the A46 principal road.
2. That length of the Trunk Road given the reference letter "B" on the deposited plan about 55 metres in length, known as the Cross Hands Roundabout.
3. That length of the Trunk Road given the reference letter "C" on the deposited plan about 1.75 kilometres in length starting at the Cross Hands Roundabout junction with the A46 principal road in an easterly direction and ending at a point 102 metres east of its westerly junction with Bentham Lane (u/c 3/195).
4. That length of the Trunk Road given the reference letter "D" on the deposited plan about 890 metres in length starting at a point 14 metres west of its easterly junction with Bentham Lane (u/c 3/195) and ending at a point 20 metres north west of its junction with Dog Lane (u/c 41137).
