The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 78(3), (4) and (10) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993((1)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1993 (Commencement No. 2 Transitional Provisions and Savings) (Scotland) Order 1993.
(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.
2.-(1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Article, section 67(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993 shall come into force on 16th August 1993.
(2) Section 67(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993 shall not apply in relation to any offence committed before 16th August 1993.

This Order brings into force on 16th August 1993, for Scotland only, section 67(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993, which increases the penalty for causing death by dangerous driving or by careless driving. By virtue of Article 2(2) of the Order, the new penalty shall not apply to any offence committed before 16th August 1993.
This Order has been preceded by the Criminal Justice Act 1993 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/1968). That Order brings into force certain provisions of the Act at the same time as those which are commenced by virtue of this Order; and certain other provisions at a later date. In particular, that Order brings into force, for England and Wales only-“
(a)on 16th August 1993, sections 66 and 67; and
(b)on 20th September 1993, sections 65, 79(14) (partially), Schedule 3 and Schedule 6 (partially).
