Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of the House of Commons in pursuance of section 102(5) of the Finance (No. 2) Act 1987(1);
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 102 of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Department of Transport (Fees) (Amendment) Order 1993 and shall come into force forthwith.
2. Schedule 1 to the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988(2) shall be amended-
(a)in Table III by substituting for each entry in column (3) which relates to paragraph 9 or 10 in column (1) the words "Paragraphs 1 to 8."; and
(b)in Table VI by substituting for each entry in column (3) which relates to paragraph 1A or 4 in column (1) the words "Paragraphs 1 to 8.".

This Order amends the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988 so that-
(a)when the fees for entering and retaining a person's name in the register of approved driving instructors are fixed account can be taken of past deficits incurred by the Secretary of State and the Registrar in discharging their functions in relation to the register: see article 2(a); and
(b)when the fees for tests of competence to drive and the charges for the supply of forms evidencing the successful completion of approved training courses by learner motorcyclists are fixed account can be taken of past deficits incurred by the Secretary of State in discharging his functions in relation to those tests and training courses: see article 2(b).
