The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under sections 51(2) and 67(4) of the Local Government Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order which gives effect to proposals submitted to him under sections 47, 48(1) and 51(1) of that Act, more than six weeks before the making of this Order, by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Bromley and Lewisham (London Borough Boundaries) Order 1993.
(2) This Order shall come into force on 1st December 1993 for any purpose set out in regulation 4(1) of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976(2).
(3) For all other purposes, this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1994.
2.-(1) In this Orderany reference to Bromley or to Lewisham is a reference to the London borough of that name;
"the map" means one or more of the 8 maps prepared by the Department of the Environment, marked "Maps of the Bromley and Lewisham (London Borough Boundaries) Order 1993", and deposited in accordance with regulation 5 of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976; and any reference to a ward is a reference to a ward of the London borough from or to which an area is transferred.
3. Each area which is marked as shown in column 1 of the following Table on the map indicated in column 2 shall be transferred from Bromley, and from the ward named in column 3 to-
(a)Lewisham;
(b)the ward mentioned in column 4;
(c)the South Eastern petty sessional area; and to
(d)the Inner South London coroner's district.

4. Each area which is marked as shown in column 1 of the following table on the map indicated in column 2 shall be transferred from Lewisham, and from the ward named in column 3 to-
(a)Bromley;
(b)the ward mentioned in column 4;
(c)the Bromley petty sessional area; and to
(d)the Southern London coroner's district.

5.-(1) In this article, "provision" means a provision of a development plan (as defined in section 336(1) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990(3)).
(2) Any provision applying to an area transferred by this Order shall continue to apply to that area, notwithstanding the transfer, until replaced by a provision which so applies, and which is expressed to supersede the preserved provision.

This Order makes changes to the boundary between the London boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham.
The map and table forming part of this Note (Pages 4 and 5) give a general guide to the areas affected and the changes made.
In approximate terms, the land transferred from Bromley to Lewisham has an area of 50 hectares and a population of 1,200, and that transferred from Lewisham to Bromley an area of 30 hectares and a population of 1,240.
For full details of the transfers made, the order maps (described in article 2) should be inspected.
Any person may inspect them at any reasonable time at the offices of the council for each London borough affected, and also at the offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment located in 2, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EB.
Consequential changes are made to petty sessional divisions and coroners' districts.
The Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976 (S. I. 1976/246, amended by S. I. 1978/247) contain general provisions regarding the effect of orders such as this one.
Transfer of-
1. Part of Grove Park Cemetery west of Elmstead Woods, to unite the Cemetery in Lewisham.
2. Part of Beckenham Place Park south of Beckenham Place, to unite the Park in Lewisham.
3. Residential area south of Grove Park Road, including Aldersgrove Avenue and part of Lambscroft Avenue.
4. Area to unite Grove Park Hospital in Lewisham.
5. Residential area located to the south of Winn Road, and to the west of the Quaggy River, including Jevington Way, Westdean Avenue and parts of Senlac Road and Ashdale Road.
Transfer of-
1. Large area stretching from Bromley Hill in the east to Ravensbourne Railway Station in the west, and including parts of Coniston Road, Elstree Hill, Hillbrow Road, Calmont Road and Riverpark Gardens.
2. Area located north-west of Shaftesbury Park, so that boundary follows the rear curtilages of Alexandra Crescent, and the centre of Valeswood Road and Boyland Road.
3. Area located to north-east of Marvels Lane, including parts of the tennis courts and running track in Mottingham Sports Grounds, and properties in Grove Park Road to the north-east of the Chinbrook Public House.
4. Area to north-east of Portland Road, including parts of Chinbrook Meadows, and of the Grove Park-Elmstead Woods railway line.
5. Part of area lying between Venner Road and Newlands Park, including parts of Tredown Road, Byne Road and Wiverton Road.
6. To unite industrial units situated between Bell Green and Kangley Bridge Road in Bromley.
1. Lower Sydenham Station/Westerley Crescent/Bell Green Lane.
2. Meadowview Road/Meadow Close/Sedgefield School.
3. Tannsfeld Road, at junction with Newlands Park.
4. Cator Road/Knighton Park Road/Woodbastwick Road/Kent House Road.
5. Launcelot Road/Launcelot Primary School/Baring Road/Ridgeway Drive.
6. Avondale Road/Alexandra Crescent/Farmfield Road.
7. Crab Hill.
8. Playing fields east of Grace Close/Dunkery Road/Castleton Road/Charminster Road.
9. Mottingham Sports Grounds.
