The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 2(9) and 15(5) of the Local Government Act 1988(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Staffordshire Moorlands District Council) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st January 1993.
2. The management of sports and leisure facilities by the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is undertaken at-
(a)Biddulph Baths, Thames Drive, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire,
(b)Sports Ground, Halls Road, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire,
(c)Mill Hayes Sports Ground, Tunstall Road, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire,
(d)St Lawrence Tennis Courts, Congleton Road, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire,
(e)Sports Ground, Hot Lane, Biddulph Moor, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, or
(f)Sports Ground, Church Road, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
before 1st October 1994.

(This note is not part of the Order)
Under Part I of the Local Government Act 1988 (competition), work falling within certain defined activities may be carried out by local authorities only if particular conditions are fulfilled.
This Order exempts from the requirements of Part I the management of sports and leisure facilities by the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council so long as it is carried out at any of the sites named in the Order before 1st October 1994.
