1. The length of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to bea trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Derbyshire and the County Council of Leicestershire that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.
2. In this Order-
(1) all measurements of distance are measure along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purpose of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(ii)"the deposited plan" means the plan numbered HA10/EM74 marked "The A564 Trunk road (Stoke-Derby Route) (Derby Southern Bypass) (Detrunking) (No. 1) Order 1992", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
(iii)"the new trunk roads" means the highways to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the A564 Trunk Road (Stoke-Derby Route) (Derby Southern Bypass and Slip Roads) (No. 2) Order 1992 and the A564 Trunk Road (Stoke-Derby Route) (Derby Southern Bypass, Derby Spur and Junctions) Order 1992;
(iv)"the A6 Trunk Road" means the A6 London-Inverness Trunk Road; and
(v)"the A5111 Trunk Road"means the A5111 Nottingham-Derby-Stoke-on-Trent Trunk Road.
3. This Order shall come into force on 14th February 1992 and may be cited as the A564 Trunk Road (Stoke-Derby Route) (Derby Southern Bypass) (Detrunking) (No. 1) Order 1992.

The length of road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the A6 Trunk Road between Lockington, in the Parishes of Castle Donington and Lockington-Hemington, in the County of Leicestershire, and Alvaston in the City of Derby, passing through the Parishes of Shardlow and Great Wilne, Aston-on-Trent and Elvaston in the County of Derbyshire. It starts at a point on the western side of the roundabout at its junction with the B6540 (Tamworth Road) near Lockington and terminates on the eastern side of the roundabout at its junction with the A5111 Trunk Road (Harvey Road) at Alvaston, a distance of 8.17 kilometres.
