The Secretary of State in exercise of the power conferred on him by paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to the Telecommunications Act 1984(1) hereby makes the following Order:-
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Telecommunications Act 1984 (Extension of Relevant Period) (No. 3) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 4th August 1992.
(2) The Telecommunications Act 1984 (Extension of Relevant Period) Order 1986(2) and the Telecommunications Act 1984 (Extension of Relevant Period) (No. 2) Order 1989(3) are hereby revoked.
2. The relevant period for the purposes of paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to the Telecommunications Act 1984 shall be ten years beginning with 5th August 1984.

Paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to the Telecommunications Act 1984 ("The Act") provides that licences to run telecommunication systems granted, or having effect as if granted, under section 15(1) of the British Telecommunications Act 1981 (c. 38) shall have effect as if granted under section 7 of the Act and shall continue in force until the end of the relevant period specified in that paragraph, unless before the end of the relevant period such a licence has either been revoked or has expired. Paragraph 1(7) provides that the relevant period shall be the period of two years beginning with the appointed day referred to in section 2 of the Act, or such other period beginning with that day as the Secretary of State may by Order prescribe. The Telecommunications Act 1984 (Appointed Day) (No. 2) Order 1984 (S.I. 1984/876) provided that the appointed day should be 5th August 1984.
The Telecommunications Act 1984 (Extension of Relevant Period) Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/1275) had the effect of extending the relevant period by three years.
The Telecommunications Act 1984 (Extension of Relevant Period) (No. 2) Order 1989 (S.I. 1989/1232) had the effect of extending the relevant period by three years.
This Order has the effect of extending the relevant period by a further two years and revoking the previous Orders.
