The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 11 of Schedule 23 to the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in them(2)and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the New Street Byelaws (Extension of Operation) (Amendment) Order 1991.
2. In article 2 of the New Street Byelaws (Extension of Operation) Order 1980(3) for "31st March 1991" there shall be substituted, "31st March 1992".
3. The New Street Byelaws (Extension of Operation) (Amendment) Order 1989(4) is hereby revoked.

This Order extends until 31st March 1992 the period during which certain new street byelaws continue in force. The byelaws were made before the commencement of the Highways Act 1959 (c. 25) under enactments which were repealed by that Act. Section 312(6) of that Act kept those byelaws in force until 30th April 1962 and orders made under that section and subsequently under paragraph 11 of Schedule 23 to the Highways Act 1980 have continued the byelaws in force until 31st March 1991.
