(This note is not part of the Order)
One of the requirements relating to the terms on which a person is appointed to or holds an appointment in pursuance of section 9 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (assistants for political groups) is that the annual rate of remuneration for the post is less than £13,500 or such higher amount as the Secretary of State may specify. A higher amount, namely £21,468, was specified under the Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1990. This Order revokes the 1990 Order and specifies £22,842 as the relevant amount for any such appointment in England, Scotland or Wales.
