In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 4(3) of the Immigration Act 1971(1), I hereby make the following Regulations:-“
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Registration with Police) (Amendment) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 1st April 1990.
2. For regulation 10 of the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972(2) there shall be substituted the following regulation-“
"10.-(1) Every registration officer shall issue certificates of registration to aliens of whom particulars are entered in the local register kept by him.
(2) A certificate of registration shall be independent of, and shall not be included in, any other document.
(3) An alien to whom a certificate of registration is issued shall pay to the registration officer concerned a fee of £36 except where the requirement to register is a condition of leave granted to an alien after an absence from the United Kingdom of a period of less than one year immediately following an earlier period of leave which was subject to the same condition."

(This note is not part of the Order)
These Regulations substitute a new regulation for regulation 10 of the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972. The new regulation increases the fee payable when aliens are required to register with the police from £25 to £36. The new regulation also deletes the special provision which was previously made in regulation 10 in respect of registration by Community nationals to reflect the fact that such nationals are no longer granted leave under the Immigration Act 1971 and are therefore no longer required to register with the police.
