The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 225(6)(b) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Statutory Provisions (Postponement of Repeal) (Scotland) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 31st December 1990.
2. In this Order-“
"the Act" means the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973;
"local statutory provision" means any local statutory provision to which section 225(6) of the Act applies.
3. The date on which all local statutory provisions applying to the whole or any part of the local government areas specified in the Schedule to this Order, so far as they apply, are to cease to have effect under section 225(6) of the Act is hereby postponed to 31st December 1991.

Section 225(6) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended provides that all local statutory provisions to which the subsection applies shall cease to have effect at the end of 1984. Previous Orders (S.I. 1984/1926, 1985/1629, 1986/2034, 1987/2090,1988/2106 and 1989/2223) have postponed the date on which such local statutory provisions applying to the local government areas or parts thereof listed in the Schedules to those Orders were to cease to have effect. The date was last postponed to the end of 1990. This Order further postpones that date until the end of 1991 in respect of those local government areas listed in the Schedule to this Order.
