RATING AND VALUATION

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 13(1) and 42(1) of the Valuation and Rating (Scotland) Act 1956((1)), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Amendment Order 1989 and shall come into force on 30th June 1989.
2. The entry in column 2 of the Schedule to the Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Order 1984((2)) relating to the last dates for the disposal by a valuation appeal committee of appeals and complaints mentioned in column 1 of that Schedule shall be amended by substituting for the words "30th June 1989" the words "31st December 1989" .
3. The Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Amendment Order 1987(3), the Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Amendment Order 1988(4) and the Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Amendment (No 2) Order 1988(5)) are hereby revoked.

This Order further amends one of the dates in the entry in the Schedule to the Valuation Timetable (Scotland) Order 1984 ("the 1984 Order") which specifies the last dates for the disposal, by valuation appeal committees, of appeals and complaints against entries in valuation rolls.
At present the last date for the disposal of such appeals and complaints by a valuation appeal committee is 30th June 1989, or 31st December in the year following that in which the appeal or complaint is lodged, or 12 months after the date on which the appeal or complaint is lodged, whichever is the latest.
This Order substitutes for the reference to 30th June 1989 a reference to 31st December 1989 (article 2).
This Order also repeals previous Amendment Orders which have been superseded (article 3).
1956 c. 60; section 13(1) was amended by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1975 (c. 30), Schedule 6, Part II, paragraph 20(a) and was extended by the Local Government (Financial Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1963 (c. 12), section 22(d).
