The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 20(3) and (8) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st May 1989.
(2) This Order shall extend to Scotland only.
2. Section 20(3) of the Gaming Act 1968(2) (which specifies the maximum permitted aggregate winnings in respect of bingo played in one week simultaneously on different club premises) shall have effect as if for the reference to the sum of £3,500 there were substituted a reference to the sum of £4,000.
3. Section 20(8) of the Gaming Act 1968(3) (which specifies the maximum amount by which weekly winnings on any particular bingo club premises may exceed the aggregate amount of the stakes hazarded) shall have effect as if for the reference to the sum of £1,500 there were substituted a reference to the sum of £1,750.
4. The Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) Order 1987(4) is revoked.

This Order, which extends to Scotland only-
(a)increases from £3,500 to £4,000 the maximum aggregate sum permitted to be paid to players as winnings in respect of all "linked" games of bingo (article 2); and
(b)increases from £1,500 to £1,750 the maximum amount by which weekly winnings in bingo clubs may exceed the stakes hazarded (article 3).
