In exercise of the powers conferred by section 127(1) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1)the Secretary of State for Education and Science hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Higher Education Corporations) (Designated Staff) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st April 1989.
2. Those persons employed by a local education authority to work at an institution named in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order and who are named in column 2 of that Schedule are hereby designated for the purposes of section 127 of the Education Reform Act 1988.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates, for the purposes of section 127 of the Education Reform Act 1988, certain staff who work at specified maintained further education institutions (which are to be conducted by higher education corporations from 1st April 1989) but do not work solely at those institutions.
Section127 substitutes the higher education corporations for the local education authority as the employer of the persons so designated, as well as of those persons who are employed to work solely at such institutions, from that date.
