1.-(a) The lengths of trunk road described in Schedule 1 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk roads and shall be classified as principal roads as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Norfolk that the main new trunk road is open for through traffic.
(b)The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Norfolk that the main new trunk road is open for through traffic.
2. In this Order:-“
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) | (i) | "classified road" | as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads; |
(ii) | "the deposited plan" | means the plan numbered HA 10/2E/228 marked "The A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (Easton-Postwick), A11 London-Norwich Trunk Road (Cringleford-Mile End Road), A140 Ipswich-Norwich Trunk Road (South of Norwich Road-Daniels Road) (Norwich Southern Bypass) Detrunking Order 1989", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; | |
(iii) | "the main new trunk road" | means the trunk road to be constructed in pursuance of The A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road) (Norwich Southern Bypass and Slip Roads) (Western Section) Order 1988 and The A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (Norwich Southern Bypass and Slip Roads) (Southern and Eastern Section) Order 1989, and referred to as the main new trunk road in those orders; and | |
(iv) | "principal road" | as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State. |
3. This Order shall come into force on 9th January 1990 and may be cited as the A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (Easton-Postwick), A11 London-Norwich Trunk Road (Cringleford-Mile End Road), A140 Ipswich-Norwich Trunk Road (South of Norwich Road-Daniels Road) (Norwich Southern Bypass) Detrunking Order 1989.

That length of the A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road within the City of Norwich and the Districts of South Norfolk and Broadland in the County of Norfolk from the roundabout at the junction of the Longwater Industrial Estate access road to its junction with Brundall Low Road, Postwick; a distance of about 17·8 kilometres.
That length of the A11 London-Norwich Trunk Road within the City of Norwich and the District of South Norfolk in the County of Norfolk from a point about 368 metres west of the western boundary of "Round House", Cringleford, to its junction with Mile End Road and Daniels Road and the trunk road slip roads which connect with the trunk road at Cringleford and at Eaton; a distance of about 3·65 kilometres.
That length of the A140 Ipswich-Norwich Trunk Road within the City of Norwich and the District of South Norfolk in the County of Norfolk from a point about 400 metres south of its junction with Norwich Road to its junction with Daniels Road and Lakenham Road; a distance of about 2·22 kilometres.
That length of the A47 Leicester-Great Yarmouth Trunk Road within the City of Norwich and the District of South Norfolk in the County of Norfolk from a point about 460 metres west of its junction with Church Lane, Easton, to the roundabout forming the north-easterly part of the Longwater Farm junction with the Norwich Southern Bypass; a distance of about 2.95 kilometres.
