The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with sea fishing in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 30(2) and (3) of the Fisheries Act 1981(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:-“
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Sea Fishing (Enforcement of Community Quota Measures) (Amendment) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 27th November 1989.
(2) In this Order "the principal Order" means the Sea Fishing (Enforcement of Community Quota Measures) Order 1988(2).
2. The principal Order is hereby amended by substituting in article 2 thereof (interpretation) for the definition of the Council Regulation the following definition -“
""the Council Regulation" means Council Regulation (EEC) No. 4194/88 fixing, for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks, the total allowable catches for 1989 and certain conditions under which they may be fished(3) as amended by Council Regulations (EEC) Nos. 295/89(4) and 2278/89(5).".

This Order amends the Sea Fishing (Enforcement of Community Quota Measures) Order 1988 ("the principal Order"), which makes provision for the enforcement of certain of the enforceable Community obligations relating to sea fishing which are contained in Council Regulation (EEC) No. 4194/88 ("the Council Regulation"). The Council Regulation fixes total allowable catches and quotas for 1989.
In consequence of amendments made to the Council Regulation by Council Regulations (EEC) Nos. 295/89 and 2278/89, this Order amends the definition of the Council Regulation in article 2 of the principal Order (interpretation) so as to provide for the inclusion of those amendments in that definition (article 2). It also incorporates corrections to the Council Regulation made by means of a corrigendum in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJ No L36, 8.2.89, p.23).
