The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 35(1), 36(1), 126(1) and 128(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 3) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st October 1989.
2. In regulation 2(1) of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973(2) (interpretation) in the definition"dental officer" there are substituted for the words"Department of Health and Social Security" the words"Board(3), of the Department of Health".

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973 which provide for the arrangements under which dentists provide dental services under the National Health Service in England and Wales.
Regulation 2 amends the definition of"dental officer" to include a dental officer employed by the Dental Practice Board.
1977 c. 49; in section 128(1) see the definition of"regulations". Section 35(1) was substituted by the Family Practitioner Committees (Consequential Modifications) Order 1985 (S.I. 1985/39), article 7(9). Section 36 was amended by the Health and Social Security Act 1984 (c. 48), Schedule 3, paragraph 5 and by S.I. 1985/39, article 7(10).
S.I. 1973/1468 to which there are amendments not relevant to these Regulations.
