1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the St. Helena Constitution Order 1989.
(2) This Order shall be construed as one with the St. Helena Constitution Order 1988(3).
(3) This Order shall come into force on 16th February 1989.
2.-(1) Notwithstanding the revocation of the 1966 Order by the 1988 Order, the Executive Council, the Legislative Council and the Council Committees as constituted immediately before the date of such revocation shall be deemed to remain validly constituted, and the validity of any proceedings of those Councils and of those Committees shall not be called in question by reason of such revocation.
(2) The Legislative Council as constituted immediately before the date of revocation of the 1966 Order shall be dissolved by the Governor not later than 6th March 1989.
(3) In this section-“
"the 1966 Order" means the St. Helena (Constitution) Order 1966(4);
"the 1988 Order" means the St. Helena Constitution Order 1988.

This Order validates the continuance in being and proceedings of the St. Helena Executive and Legislative Councils and Council Committees notwithstanding the revocation of the St. Helena (Constitution) Order 1966, under which they were constituted, and its replacement by the St. Helena Constitution Order 1988. It also requires the dissolution of the Legislative Council no later than 6th March 1989.
