1. The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in the schedule to this Order, which connects the Trunk Road with the Trunk Road (as improved) at the place stated in that schedule (the highway along this route being in this Order referred to as "the slip road"), shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.
2. The centre line of the slip road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.
3. In this Order -
1 all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "the deposited plan" means the plan numbered RSE A23/2/65/2/10, marked "The London-Brighton Trunk Road (A23 Hickstead Slip Roads) (No 2) Order 1989", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;
(ii)"the Trunk Road" means the London-Brighton Trunk Road (A23).
4. This Order shall come into force on 1st September 1989 and may be cited as the London - Brighton Trunk Road (A23 Hickstead Slip Roads) (No 2) Order 1989.

From the Trunk Road to the northbound carriageway of the Trunk Road (as improved) approximately 1200 metres north of Jobs Lane, Hickstead (this route being given the reference letter A on the deposited plan).
