The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(1)(b) and by section 1(3) of the Hovercraft Act 1968(1), and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Hovercraft (General) (Amendment) Order 1989, and shall come into force on 31st August 1989.
2. The Hovercraft (General) Order 1972(2) is hereby amended as follows-“
(a)in article 18(3) the following sub-paragraph shall be added at the end-“
"(l)medical equipment to be carried.";
(b)in article 22 all words after "hovercraft" where it secondly appears shall be omitted; and
(l)in article 24(2):-“
(i)in sub-paragraph (c) "or" shall be deleted;
(ii)the following shall be added at the end-“
"or
(e)causes any damage.".

This Order amends the Hovercraft (General) Order 1972 to omit the details of the medical equipment which has to be carried by all hovercraft to which the Order applies, as some of the items are no longer appropriate; to provide more flexibility by enabling the Secretary of State to specify in operating permits the medical equipment to be carried; and to extend the definition of casualties involving hovercraft which have to be notified to include incidents in which a hovercraft causes any damage.
