The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 7(3) of the Pensions (Navy, Army, Air Force and Mercantile Marine) Act 1939(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the War Pensions (Chinese Seamen and Indian Seamen) (Revocations) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 11th April 1988.
2. The War Pensions (Indian Seamen, etc.) Scheme 1944(2), the War Pensions (Chinese Seamen, etc.) Scheme 1944(3) and the War Pensions (Indian Seamen, Etc.) (Amendment) Scheme 1963(4) are hereby revoked.

This Order, which comes into force on 11th April 1988, revokes the War Pensions (Indian Seamen, etc.) Scheme 1944 and the War Pensions (Chinese Seamen, etc.) Scheme 1944 in order to remove provisions under which the rate of war pension payable to certain non-British seamen employed on British ships is lower than that payable to British seamen.
