1. This Order may be cited as the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation (Variation) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 21st March 1988.
2. In this Order "the principal order" means the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 1984(3).
3. The area designated a free zone by article 2(1) of the principal order shall be varied so as to consist of an area of 621 acres, in the Borough of Sefton in the County of Merseyside, shown enclosed by a red line on a map, being of a scale of 25 inches to a mile, and signed by a Collector of Customs and Excise.
4. The map referred to in article 3 above shall be kept by the Commissioners at their Headquarters, New King's Beam House, 22 Upper Ground, London SE1 9PJ (and a copy thereof at the offices of The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company) in substitution for the map kept as required by article 2(2) of the principal order.

This Order varies the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 1984 by adding a plot of 21 acres to the 600 acre area designated as a free zone.
1979 c. 2; section 100A was introduced by section 8 of and Schedule 4 to the Finance Act 1984 (c. 43).
The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company was appointed the responsible authority by article 3 of the principal order.
