The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(1) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988( (1)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order-
1. This Order may be cited as the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988 (Specified Date) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 16th January 1989.
2. The specified date for the purposes of section 3(1) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988 shall be 1st April 1989.

This Order specifies 1st April 1989 as the specified date for the purposes of section 3(1) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988.
That section provides that, on the specified date, the Scottish Special Housing Association is to be dissolved and its property, rights, obligations and liabilities are to be transferred to and vest in Scottish Homes.
The specified date is also relevant for the purposes of section 4 of the Act. That section provides for the transfer from the Housing Corporation to Scottish Homes on the specified date of its responsibilities with regard to certain housing associations and of certain property, rights, obligations and liabilities of the Housing Corporation.
