In exercise of the powers conferred by section 214(2)(c) and (3) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1) the Secretary of State for Education and Science hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Recognised Awards) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 30th November 1988.
2. The awards which are specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order granted or to be granted by the person specified opposite in column 2 thereof are hereby designated as recognised awards for the purposes of section 214 of the Education Reform Act 1988.

This Order lists particular awards granted by certain persons which are recognised awards for the purposes of section 214 of the Education Reform Act 1988. As a recognised award these particular awards are not awards of the kind referred to in section 214(1), which makes it an offence to grant, offer to grant, or issue any invitation relating to certain unrecognised degrees and awards.
