The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 119(1), 120(1) and 124 of the Road Traffic Act 1972(1), now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 199(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Heavy Goods Vehicles (Drivers' Licences) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 26th September 1988.
2. The Heavy Goods Vehicles (Drivers' Licences) Regulations 1977(3) shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
3. In the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the words specified in column 2 of that Table there shall be substituted the words specified in column 3 of that Table.

4. The amendments effected by these Regulations shall not apply where an application for a licence (full, provisional, exchange or duplicate) was received before 26th September 1988.

These Regulations further amend the Heavy Goods Vehicles (Drivers' Licences) Regulations 1977 by providing for increases in fees as follows-
(a)in regulation 8, for a full hgv driver's licence, from £7.50 to £10;
(b)in regulation 8, for a provisional hgv driver's licence, from £3 to £5; and
(c)in regulation 14(1) and (3), for a duplicate and exchange hgv driver's licence respectively, from £1.50 to £5.
The increases take effect in relation to applications for licences received on or after 26th September 1988.
