(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 1st July 1988 section 12 of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987, which substitutes new provisions for section 28 of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1978 (c. 5) (providing for compensation for acts done under the 1978 Act interfering with private rights of property). The new provisions provide for a decision by the Secretary of State on an application for compensation and a right of appeal to the county court against his decision. Provision is also made for time limits for applications, which may be extended by the Secretary of State or, in case of his refusal, by the county court.
As from the 1st July 1988, the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987 will have been brought fully into force.
