The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1(1) and (2) of the Bees Act 1980(1) and of all their other enabling powers, hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Bees (Amendment) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 4th June 1987.
2. The Importation of Bees Order 1980(2) shall be amended as follows-
(a)in article 2 (interpretation) after the definition of "bees" there shall be added the following definition-
""bee pests" means any organisms or pathogens which are injurious to bees or any cultures of any such organisms or pathogens;" and
(b)in article 3 (prohibition of importation of bees), article 4 (general licences) and article 5 (specific licences) after the word "bees" wherever it appears in those articles there shall be added the words "or bee pests".

This Order amends the Importation of Bees Order 1980, which prohibits the importation of bees into Great Britain except under a licence issued by the responsible Minister (as defined in that Order), by prohibiting the importation of bee pests (being organisms or pathogens which are injurious to bees or any cultures of any such organisms or pathogens) except under such a licence (article 2).
