The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 35(1) and 36(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 3) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 21st December 1987.
2. In regulation 23(1) of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973(2) (Statement of Remuneration) -
(a)in column 1 (Determination) below "V", there shall be inserted "VA"; and
(b)in column 2 (subject matter of determination), there shall be inserted, so as to relate to determination VA, "Allowances in respect of a dentist undergoing a period of training;".

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973 which concern arrangements under which dentists provide general dental services under the National Health Service in England and Wales by providing for the Statement of Dental Remuneration (distributed to those providing general dental services), to include allowances in respect of dentists undergoing training.
1977 c. 49; section 35 was substituted by the Family Practitioner Committees (Consequential Modifications) Order 1985 (S.I. 1985/39), article 7(9). Section 36 was amended by the Health and Social Security Act 1984 (c. 48) Schedule 3, paragraph 5 and by S.I. 1985/39, article 7(10).
