CHANGES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 ((1)); to give effect to proposals made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland under section 14(2) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Kyle and Carrick District and Cumnock and Doon Valley District (Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987, and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.
2. In this Order-
"the 1977 Regulations" means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977((2)); and
"boundary maps" means the 5 maps prepared by the Scottish Office, marked "Maps of the Kyle and Carrick District and Cumnock and Doon Valley District (Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987", duly numbered for reference and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations; and in the Schedule to this Order any reference to a boundary of a district is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
3. The 1977 Regulations shall apply for the purposes of this Order to such extent as may be required to implement the area change effected by article 4 of this Order.
4. Part of Kyle and Carrick District containing Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, near Dalmellington, being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary maps, shall be transferred to Cumnock and Doon Valley District.
5. The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order)-
(a)shall cease to form part of electoral division 101 (Carrick) of Strathclyde Region((3)) and of ward 24 (Carrick North) of Kyle and Carrick District((4)); and
(b)shall form part of electoral division 103 (New Cumnock and Doon Valley) of Strathclyde Region and of ward 7 (Dalmellington) of Cumnock and Doon Valley District((5)).

This Order transfers an area of approximately 22,115 acres at Loch Doon and Craigengillan Estate, Dalmellington from Kyle and Carrick District to Cumnock and Doon Valley District and makes consequential changes of electoral arrangements. The map annexed to and forming part of this note gives a general guide to the areas affected by this Order as from 1st April 1988.
Copies of the detailed boundary maps defined in Article 2 of this Order may be inspected at the offices of any of the local authorities referred to in this Order and may be inspected at or purchased from the Scottish Development Department's Map Library, New St Andrew's House, St James Centre, Edinburgh, EH1 3SZ.
S.I. 1977/8
The electoral divisions of Strathclyde Region were constituted by S.I. 1979/673, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The wards of Kyle and Carrick District were constituted by S.I. 1981/846, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The wards of Cumnock and Doon Valley District were constituted by S.I. 1981/1490
