CHANGES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under sections 51(2) and 67(4) of the Local Government Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order which gives effect to proposals submitted to him under sections 47 and 51(1) of that Act, more than six weeks before the making of this Order, by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Shropshire (District Boundaries) Order 1987.
(2) This Order shall come into force on 1st November 1987 for any purpose set out in regulation 4(1) (coming into operation of order) of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976(2).
(3) For all other purposes this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1988.
2.-(1) The areas of the borough of Shrewsbury and Atcham and of the parish of Astley which are marked Area A and Area B on the boundary map and the area of that borough and of the parish of Pimhill which is marked Area C on that map shall be transferred to–
(a)the district of North Shropshire;
(b)the Clive ward of that district;
(c)the parish of Hadnall;
(d)the Myddle electoral division of the county of Shropshire.
(2) In article 2(1) above "boundary map" means the map issued by the Department of the Environment, marked "Map of the Shropshire (District Boundaries) Order 1987", and deposited in accordance with regulation 5 of the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976.
3. Any provisions of a local plan adopted by the Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council which apply immediately before 1st April 1988 to the areas transferred by this Order shall continue to apply in relation to those areas as if they were part of a local plan adopted by the North Shropshire District Council.

This Order transfers areas from the borough of Shrewsbury and Atcham and the parishes of Astley and Pimhill to the district of North Shropshire and the parish of Hadnall. Consequential changes to local government electoral areas are made.
The map forming part of this note (page 3) gives a general guide to the areas affected. Prints of the detailed boundary map (described in article 2) may be inspected at all reasonable times at the offices of the borough and district councils and at the office of the Secretary of State for the Environment, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EB.
The areas transferred have approximately an area of 19.61 hectares, a population of 25 and a rateable value of £2,221.
The Local Government Area Changes Regulations (S.I. 1976/246, amended by S.I. 1978/247) contain general provisions regarding the effect of orders such as this one.
